Typical Questions
1. Do we need to bring bedding?
Not unless you want to. If you have a special pillow or whatever feel free. Otherwise, bedding is supplied.
2. What is environment like?
Hot summers, cold winters and everything growing out here will either stick ya, prick ya or poke ya. There are wild hogs, coyotes, rattlesnakes and the occasional mountain lion on this ranch. So, dress accordingly to the season and always watch your step and be aware of your surroundings. A sidearm and boots are recommended, but paying attention to your surroundings is the main key to a safe and enjoyable hunt.
3. Do we need to bring food/drinks?
Not unless you are on a restricted diet or whatever. All meals will be catered and free of charge. This is a working Texas cattle ranch, so we hope you like beef. IF you have a food allergy please let us know before the trip so we can plan accordingly. We want everyone that comes to have a wonderful experience. If you have snacks that you personally enjoy, feel free to bring them.
4. Is alcohol allowed?
Yes, you can bring your own alcohol and adult beverage. We will not allow alcohol out on the ranch and ALL guns will be locked in the safe before alcohol is consumed. Safety of everyone on the ranch is our number one priority.
5. Where is the ranch located?

We will have the cattle out of that section of the ranch during hunts, so the gate will be open.
6. When should we arrive at the ranch?
Well, we know everyone is traveling and Texas is a BIG state, so we try to be as flexible as possible with this portion. If you are coming on a deer hunt, then the requirement to “qualify” on the range comes into play. We need to see what you are capable of with a rifle. This ranch has blinds with 100-yard shots up to blinds with 800+ shots, so we want to place you in the blind that will put you in a position to succeed! So please arrive during the day with at least 2 hrs. of sunlight left to qualify for the next mornings hunt. No qualifications are required if you plan to participate in the helicopter hog hunt. If you are bringing a AR style weapon for the hog hunt in a helicopter you MUST have a brass catcher. These are not military helicopters that have a sealed floor, and brass can lodge in the flight controls.
7. What if I don’t have a gun?
We have you covered no matter what hunt you are coming to do. If you have a deer rifle or a 12 gauge that shoots 3-inch Magnums for hogs feel free to bring it, just know we have you covered if needed. If you have an AR platform gun with thermal or NVG for the night hog hunts bring it too.
8. Is there a set schedule for events?
That’s a standard yes but it is not mandatory, you must attend all events scheduled. Some people are not morning people and would rather sleep in the morning to skip that hunt and do an evening hunt. Feel free to do that just know your breakfast will be cold, but there is a microwave. All hunts will have an itinerary because we must line up guides, we must schedule helicopters and numerous other things to make these events successful. That being said, we hope you will participate in all events because we want you to get the most out of every time you attend one of our events.
9. Arrival and departure times?
Please arrive between 12 noon and 3 PM the day the hunt begins, and you are free to depart anytime you wish the last day of the hunt.
10. I don’t have the money to process a deer or other animal.
If you get a deer TWC and Arrowhead Ranch will pay for your processing, up to 2 deer per hunter. So, bring a cooler if you want to transport the meat home.
11. Is there cell service?
Not much. Get on top of the hills and you can catch a little service, but it’s spotty at best. There is internet at the bunkhouse so you can grab some Wi-Fi to call home there.
